A spatial installation exploring how a three-dimensional environment could be formed using fabric alone.

Long strips of fabric were repeatedly folded and layered in the air, giving depth and contour to a place without walls or a ceiling. Illuminated by gradations of light, the soft material emerges as a series of planes whose density and overlap shift according to the viewer’s position.

Rather than filling the space with mass, the work uses minimal material to give form to the surrounding air. The suspended fabric brings the monumental scale of the exhibition hall closer to the human body, creating a new place in which people can gather and remain.

The installation is an exploration of soft material as a form of architecture.

広大な展示ホールの空中に、布だけで立体的な空間を立ち上げることを試みたインスタレーション。

帯状の布を連続して折り返し、幾重にも重ねることで、壁も天井もない場所に、輪郭と奥行きを生み出しました。柔らかな布は、光を受けることで面として現れ、見る位置によって密度や重なりを変化させます。

物質によって空間を埋めるのではなく、最小限の素材によって空気の広がりを形として捉える。布の連なりが巨大な会場のスケールを人の身体へと引き寄せ、その下に人々が集い、滞在するための新たな空間をつくり出します。

本作は、柔らかな素材だけで建築的な空間を成立させる試みです。
