HAMADAWASHI

Lighting direction for the solo exhibition "Zokuzuru Washi”, by Hamada Brothers Washi Manufacturing, which was held at in Tokyo’s Gallery Tsukigime in May 2019.

Hamada Washi produces the thinnest Japanese paper in the world (0.03 mm thick), which was elected as one of Japan’s important intangible cultural asset. For this exhibition, the artists intended to espace from the general codes of Japanese paper, such as silence, serenity and tranquility, by adopting a rustic light, generally used on construction sites, rather than a regular light designed for artworks.
