YOIN

The Lingering Notes

YOIN" speaker unit was produced in collaboration with EASTERN SOUND FACTORY.

The box was made by lacquer artist Kohei Kirimoto, who applied a mixture of lacquer and "jinoko" (ground powder), which is used in the base coating of Wajima lacquerware. This gives the unit an austere, refined appearance and improved sound quality.

Earth dust is a fossilized form of plant plankton called diatomaceous earth, which is characterized by its many microscopic pores. This microscopic substance absorbs noise and gives the sound a rich depth and calmness, and by eliminating waveform distortion, it is possible to reproduce tones more faithfully.

「技法と歴史が奏でる"余韻”を味わうスピーカー」

EASTERN SOUND FACTORY社との共同により、スピーカーユニット＜YOIN＞を製作しました。

ボックスの制作は漆芸家・桐本滉平氏に依頼し、輪島塗の下地塗で使われる”地の粉”を漆に混ぜて塗布。これにより、渋みのある洗練された外観と音質の向上を実現させました。

地の粉とは、珪藻土と呼ばれる植物性プランクトンの化石化したもので、微細な孔を多く持つという特徴があります。この微細ながノイズを吸収し、音に豊かな深みと落ち着きを与えると共に、波形の歪みをなくすことで、より忠実に音色を再現することが可能となりました。
