TOMOYASU HOTEI ELECTRIC SAMURAI

Lighting and video direction for the world-renowned guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei's 2013 live performance at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London.

The concept is a Japanese style origami and shoji (paper sliding doors), with a 6100mm x 6100mm screen divided into 10 equal parts on the side and hung in a staircase to project images in a three-dimensional arrangement. The show celebrates the release of his album, which features the theme song from the blockbuster film “Kill Bill". It is said that Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, who had come to see the show, was impressed by the performance, leading to a collaboration performance held at the Tokyo Dome the following year.
